The traffic accident happened on December 27, around 7:45 a.m., on the “Western Bypass of the City of Lviv” highway near the village of Sokilnyky, Lviv District.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Peugeot Expert car, a 38-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Sambir district, hit a pedestrian, a 73-year-old man from Lviv.
As a result of the accident, the elderly man was injured and hospitalized.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial unit of the police of Lviv Oblast opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty stipulated by the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years.
