At Krakivets checkpoint, border guards exposed pseudo-newlyweds 22 years apart

Not the same Romeo, not the same Juliet: border guards expose pseudo-newlyweds 22 years apart

At the Krakivets checkpoint on the border with Poland, border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment exposed a 64-year-old native of Kirovohrad Oblast, a person with a group II disability, who had married a 42-year-old native of Kyiv without intending to start a family.

The “newlyweds” said they were allegedly heading to Germany to visit her adult daughter from her first marriage. The couple arrived at the checkpoint in the evening. Marriage to a woman much older than him with the status of a person with a disability the day before gave the man the opportunity to receive a deferral from mobilisation.

The detachment’s operatives sent a report to the National Police about the detection of signs of a criminal offence under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine”.
