A 53-year-old man will serve 8 years behind bars for an attack on a 93-year-old lonely pensioner in Boryslav

Due to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Court of Appeal left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged. The last decision found the 53-year-old man guilty of robbery (Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The prosecutor proved in court that in February of this year, in the city of Boryslav, the convict committed a robbery attack on a 93-year-old woman.

Being drunk, in the evening, the man broke into the apartment where a lonely pensioner lived.

Entering the corridor, the suspect met the victim and punched her in the head. As a result of the impact, the woman fell to the ground and was unable to get up.

He then took her by the arms, dragged her into the room and threatened to kill her if she screamed. After that, the man began to search the old woman’s apartment, and found money in the drawer of the nightstand. Having stolen all the pensioner’s savings – UAH 15,000 – the convict fled from the scene.

As a result of the attack, the old woman received moderate injuries.

The defense, trying to mitigate the punishment imposed on the robber, filed an appeal. However, the court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutors and left it unsatisfied.
