Father of underage girl from Korchyn in Sheptytskyi district tried for false police call

According to the case file, published in the Unified State Register of Judicial Investigations, the incident occurred at around 21 p.m. on 29 April in the village of Korchyn, Radekhiv community.

The minor daughter of a miner made a false call to special services – the police. That evening, while walking with a friend, they were talking about how the 911 service responds abroad and in Ukraine. Later, the girl called the police and reported that she was being held hostage in the basement in the village of Korchyn.

And when she returned home from a walk, the police arrived a short time later to check whether the child was really being held in the basement. The young girl reported that no one had actually insulted her or held her hostage, and that she had made a false call because she was curious whether the police would respond to such reports.

The girl’s father did not appear at the hearing, but filed an application for the case to be considered without his participation.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and asked the court not to punish him severely.

The Radekhiv District Court found the man guilty of evading his parental responsibilities for the upbringing of his young daughter and decided to fine him UAH 850.

He also has to pay UAH 605 in court fees.

The decision can be appealed within ten days.
