Former official of one of the district departments of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region is sentenced to 5 years in prison with confiscation of property

Following a public prosecution by the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, a former deputy head of a district department of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region was found guilty of receiving an undue advantage (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of all his property. He was also deprived of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies related to the performance of organisational and administrative functions for a period of 3 years.

The prosecutor proved in court that the man, while holding the position of deputy head of one of the district departments of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Lviv region, received an undue benefit from the company’s director.

In return for USD 300, the official promised to “resolve the issue” of not including certain violations of fire safety legislation in the company’s inspection report.

The official was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine when he received the agreed amount of the bribe.
