A resident of Stryshchyna will spend 7 years behind bars for killing his friend

A 43-year-old man was found guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, which caused the death of the victim (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), according to the public accusation of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.

He was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that in May of last year in one of the villages of Slavska Territorial Community, the accused beat his acquaintance to death.

On that day, the accused, together with his roommate and two friends, drank alcoholic beverages. During the feast, a conflict arose between the defendant and a 61-year-old man due to jealousy of a woman.

In the course of the dispute, a fight broke out, the accused began to hit an acquaintance on the head with his fists. The latter fell to the floor from his injuries. However, after that he got up and left the apartment. However, the man fainted near the house.

After some time, the victim was noticed by a neighbor who called an ambulance. He was taken to a medical facility, where he died two weeks later.

The accused will be in custody until the verdict becomes final.

The court’s verdict becomes legally binding after the expiry of the appeal period.
