The co-organizer of the channel for transporting drugs across the border was sentenced to 8 years in prison

Operatives of the Lviv border detachment exposed a criminal group that was engaged in cross-border movement and sale of wholesale consignments of narcotics.

As the law enforcement officers established, the group, which included several residents of Lviv region and Kharkiv region, established a channel for the illegal movement of heavy drugs across the Ukrainian-Polish border. In particular, while on the territory of Poland, the perpetrators hid dope in seven travel bags and, using the services of passenger transport, tried to hide it under the guise of travelers’ luggage.

At the “Pears” checkpoint, during an attempt to illegally import “goods”, dealers were exposed. After checking the Lodz-Dolyna bus, operatives found and seized more than 63 kg of opiate drugs.

According to the “black market” prices, their value can amount to almost 2 million hryvnias.

By the verdict of the Pustomytiv District Court of Lviv Oblast, the co-organizer of the channel was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Regarding other participants, the case materials are at the stage of trial.

Actions to stop illegal activities were carried out by operatives of the Lviv border detachment together with SBU employees in the Lviv region under the procedural guidance of the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office.
