Two people injured in car-train collision in Stryi region

The accident occurred on March 8 at about 00:30 on the Kyiv-Chop highway in Stryi district.

As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, a ZAZ driven by an 18-year-old resident of a village in the district collided with a DAF truck with a semi-trailer driven by a 40-year-old resident of Cherkasy region. As a result of the collision, the driver of the car and his passenger, a 20-year-old resident of Lviv, were injured and taken to the hospital.

Investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
