Under the procedural leadership of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, two directors of a utility company were notified of suspicion of violation of environmental safety rules by a group of persons (Part 2, Article 28, Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
According to the investigation, in Slavsk, during 2018-2022, the suspects illegally buried garbage at the local solid waste landfill, which was prohibited for use.
Previously, an agreement on the provision of household waste removal services was concluded between the village council and the utility company. According to its conditions, the waste was to be taken to the active Stryi solid waste landfill.
However, officials only created a documentary appearance of garbage disposal at the place specified in the contract. And in fact, they took him to the Slavsky closed training ground.
As a result of such actions, ecological pollution of the lands near the landfill, the coastal protective strip and the surface waters of the local river was caused. The total amount of damages is almost UAH 2.5 million.
The question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect and removing them from their positions is being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Stryi district police department of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region under the operational support of the Department of Security of Ukraine in Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
