Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the head of the lower staff of one of the branches of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with receiving an unlawful benefit in a repeated manner (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the official received an undue benefit for the release of timber without official payment and documentation from a resident of Lviv region.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine immediately after receiving a part of the bribe. In total, two facts of the suspect’s receipt of funds totalling over UAH 37 thousand were documented.
At the request of the prosecutor, the detainee was chosen as a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
The operation was exposed by the Prosecutor’s Office jointly with investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, based on the materials of the SBU Office in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
