They wanted to blow up electric substations in Lviv region – four people were sentenced to 8 years for trying to organize a terrorist act

According to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, four citizens of Ukraine were found guilty in absentia of an unfinished attempt to commit a terrorist act (Part 3 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

They were sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Prosecutors proved in court that at the beginning of 2014, a resident of Lviv Oblast supported the terrorist organizations of the DPR and LPR regarding the violent change of the territory and state border of Ukraine. In the banned Vkontakte social network, the man established communication with other defendants who shared his views and were pro-Russian.

Subsequently, the participants, according to a preliminary conspiracy, planned to commit a terrorist act at one of the electric substations of the region. The men jointly developed a plan of actions and roles. According to the plan, the defendants were supposed to install a self-made radio-controlled explosive device on the territory of the power station.

However, they did not complete their criminal activities, as they were detained by law enforcement officers.

A special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the SBU Department in the Lviv region.
