Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a former employee of a state penitentiary was found guilty. He was convicted of violating the rules of road safety by a person driving a vehicle, which caused serious bodily harm to the victim (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The man was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months in prison. He was also deprived of the right to drive vehicles for 2 years.
The prosecutor proved in court that in May 2021, a road accident occurred on the Kyiv-Chop highway, as a result of which a woman was seriously injured.
The accused, driving a car, made a left turn without signaling a traffic light and did not give way to a passing vehicle, a fuel tanker. This resulted in a collision with a truck.
As a result of the accident, a 31-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car suffered numerous injuries.
The man has now been released from the penitentiary.
The court verdict will come into force after the expiration of the appeal period.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv city.
