In the Lviv region, a scandal surrounding land machinations: the former head of the village council in Zolochiv district is accused of illegally seizing land plots. According to law enforcement officials, he abused his official position by transferring five municipal plots into private ownership, thereby causing large financial damages to the territories.
During his tenure, the former head forged documents, claiming he was the heir to his deceased relatives, the owners of this land. Consequently, he had no legal rights to these plots, but he registered himself as the owner, using manipulations during the voting at the village council session. With the decisions of the same council, largely controlled by him, he secured the appropriation of the lands for his own use.
Investigators have declared suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which prescribes punishment in the form of imprisonment. Currently, a pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and an arrest has been placed on the land plots to ensure the criminal proceedings.
