Former mine director in Lviv region to be tried for unjustified non-payment of more than 1.5 million wages to miners

Prosecutors of the Sheptytska District Prosecutor’s Office have completed a pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to court against the former director of a coal mining company in the region. He is accused of unjustified non-payment of wages (Part 1 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the defendant, while holding the position of mine director, unreasonably owed his employees more than UAH 1.5 million in wages.

Having a real opportunity to repay the debt, the employee directed the funds to another non-priority need – a loan to another company. At the same time, the salary debt, which should be paid as a matter of priority, remained unpaid.

In civil proceedings, claims for damages were also filed against the accused.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by the Sheptytskyi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Oblast.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
