Kyiv resident to be tried for high-profile road accident in Drohobych region: four dead and three injured

Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment against a 43-year-old man was sent to court on the fact of violation of traffic safety rules by a person driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs (Part 4 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On the morning of October 15, an accident occurred on the Truskavets-Lviv highway, killing four people and injuring three others.

The investigation found that a Kyiv resident, the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser, while under the influence of drugs, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming Volkswagen Caddy driven by a resident of Rava-Ruska.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the oncoming car and two of his passengers died on the spot, and another passenger died in the hospital. Three other people – one Toyota passenger and two Volkswagen passengers – sustained injuries of varying severity.

The accused is currently in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
