Lviv Court of Appeal upholds pre-trial restraint for suspect in murder of Iryna Farion

On July 26, at the request of National Police investigators, the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv imposed a pre-trial restraint on the 18-year-old suspect for up to 60 days without the possibility of bail.

As previously reported, on July 19, around 19:30, an unknown person fired a gun at a 60-year-old public figure on a street in Lviv. Doctors hospitalized the victim with a head wound. Unfortunately, Iryna Farion died a few hours later.

On July 25, law enforcement officers detained the attacker in the city of Dnipro.

He was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
