Almost 5,000 road accidents in the Lviv region were recorded by the police in six months

Law enforcement officers once again call on drivers and pedestrians to carefully comply with the requirements of the Traffic Rules. Take care of life and health – yours and other road users!

As of January 1, 2023, 4,833 traffic accidents were registered on the highways of Lviv and the region, 864 of which involved casualties.

Unfortunately, 103 people died in these car accidents, and 1,126 people received injuries of varying degrees of severity.

The main causes of road accidents are:

– violation of maneuvering rules (for this reason, there were 1,846 road accidents, of which 223 resulted in injuries, in which 22 people died and 258 were injured);

– exceeding the safe speed (1,277 road accidents, of which 310 resulted in injuries, in which 50 people died and 411 were injured);

– failure to maintain the distance (814 traffic accidents, of which 50 resulted in injuries, in which 4 people died and 56 received injuries of varying degrees of severity).

The police of the Lviv region once again urge drivers: do not exceed the permitted speed, do not make risky maneuvers, keep a distance, be as attentive as possible when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings.

And law enforcement officers remind pedestrians: cross the road only in authorized places, mark yourself with reflective elements in the dark – this will make you visible to drivers and allow you to avoid being hit.

Have a safe trip everyone!
