Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, the court found a 60-year-old resident of Lviv district guilty of premeditated murder (part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
Prosecutors proved that in May 2024, in one of the villages of Lviv district, the defendant killed his friend in his own home.
The man had previously visited his fellow villager to drink alcohol. During the feast, a domestic dispute arose between them, which led to the defendant grabbing a knife and stabbing the host about 11 times. Accordingly, this caused fatal injuries to the victim. The defendant then covered the body, which was lying on the floor, with a blanket and fled the scene.
Shortly afterwards, the victim’s mother returned home and found her husband’s corpse.
The accused is in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
The court verdict will come into force after the expiration of the appeal period.
