The Galician District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv sent an indictment to the court against a resident of Lviv on the facts of spreading and public use of the symbols of the communist totalitarian regime (Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that a native of Belarus, who has been living in Lviv for a long time and is a citizen of Ukraine, maintained a public page in the banned Odnoklassniki social network. There he distributed posts that contained signs of propaganda of the communist totalitarian regime and images of communist symbols.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the investigators of the investigative department of police department No. 1 of the Lviv Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region, according to the materials of the SBU Office in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
