A 41-year-old resident of Stryi Oblast was found guilty of domestic violence (Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following a public accusation by the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
He was sentenced to 220 hours of community service.
The prosecutor proved in court that the convict abused alcohol and systematically committed psychological violence against his mother.
In particular, the son unjustifiably insulted the victim, shouted loudly and used obscenities in her address. The man repeatedly threatened the pensioner with physical violence.
As a result, such illegal actions of the person involved led to psychological suffering and deterioration of the victim’s quality of life.
Therefore, the court additionally applied a restrictive measure to the man – the obligation to complete a program for offenders and a probation program within two months.
