Under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, a man was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with illegal acquisition, storage with intent to sell and sale of a poisonous substance that is not a narcotic or psychotropic substance or their analogues in a particularly large amount without a special permit (Part 4 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in August of this year, a local resident organized the illegal sale of almost 9,000 grams of mercury in the city of Sambir.
He stored the toxic chemicals in his own warehouses, where he carried out his business.
The “goods” were valued at USD 50,000.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine after receiving the declared amount of money for mercury.
The investigative actions are ongoing. All persons involved are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support provided by the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
