A Resident of Zolochiv Region to Be Tried for Social Benefits Fraud

A resident of the Zolochiv region received approximately 500,000 UAH in social benefits using forged certificates.

Prosecutors from the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office have completed a pre-trial investigation and forwarded accusatory statements to the court regarding a resident of the region. She is accused of fraud, aiding in forgery, and using forged documents (Part 1, 2 Article 190, Part 5 Article 27 – Part 3 Article 358, Part 4 Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Investigations established that during 2023 – 2024, the accused unlawfully acquired budget funds paid to her as compensation for the ‘Municipal Nanny’ service and as social assistance for caring for sick children. To implement the fraudulent scheme for obtaining payments, the woman submitted fictitious documents to the Department of Social Protection of the Population. Specifically, these were forged certificates indicating her children had serious illnesses, which they did not actually have.

The total amount of damages amounted to approximately 500,000 UAH. Regarding the person who facilitated the issuance of the forged medical certificates, the materials have been separated into a separate proceeding, investigative actions are ongoing. The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators from Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
