In the Lviv region, a man set up an underground workshop for the production of counterfeit alcohol

Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was sent to the court against a 27-year-old resident of the region, who was charged with illegal production, storage, and transportation for the purpose of selling excise goods (alcoholic beverages) (Parts 1, 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the accused organized an illegal business for the production and sale of falsified alcohol on the territory of Lviv Oblast.

He set up an underground workshop in a rented warehouse. There, the man diluted alcohol with water and poured it into specially purchased containers and packages.

Having received an order for a counterfeit via the Internet, he had to send illegally produced alcoholic beverages to potential customers by mail. In order to hide his illegal activities, the person involved issued parcels under fictitious data.

However, the water-alcohol mixture, which was already ready for transportation, as well as the one that was in the underground shop, was timely discovered and seized by law enforcement agencies.

The total volume of the arrested counterfeit is more than 6.5 thousand liters, its estimated value is about 1 million hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department of the BEB in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
