Following a public prosecution by the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, the court found the 29-year-old man guilty of fraud, forgery and use of a knowingly forged document (Article 190(2), Article 358(1), (4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that in 2023-204, the defendant fraudulently obtained humanitarian aid, which he later sold.

To do this, he deliberately forged and used a combatant’s certificate.

Presenting himself as a volunteer and showing a forged ID, the man received humanitarian aid at the warehouses of volunteer centres in Lviv region, allegedly for military units and brigades.

In this way, the accused took possession of medicines, basic necessities and military ammunition.

However, the received humanitarian aid was never delivered to the military units, but was misappropriated and sold by the defendants.

In total, the man received free humanitarian aid worth more than UAH 230,000.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department 3 of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the National Police.
