Lviv region: Police stop activities of drug trafficking group

The criminal group consisted of five people: A 49-year-old resident of Lviv who acted as a supplier and residents of Stryi, a 57-year-old organizer and three performers aged 44, 45 and 49.

They organized the supply of drug-containing pills and their sale to drug addicts in Stryi and other districts of Lviv region.

The criminals were exposed by criminal police operatives jointly with investigators of the Stryi District Police Department, under the supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.

The members of the criminal group had clearly divided responsibilities, and during the authorized searches, law enforcement officers found and seized about 700 drug-containing pills, draft records, money obtained from illegal activities and other material evidence.

All seized items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The value of the seized goods at black market prices is over UAH 250 thousand.

The organizer and executors were served a notice of suspicion of committing criminal offenses stipulated by Part 2 Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) and custody was chosen as a measure of restraint.

The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

Law enforcers detained the supplier in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the issue of serving him a notice of suspicion of committing a crime is being decided, and a custody as a measure of restraint has been chosen.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
