In the Lviv region, police detained three criminals suspected of stealing parts from a car

Militiamen remind that in wartime conditions for committing property crimes there are maximum penalties.

The police received a report from local self-defense participants that unknown individuals were found near one of the gas stations in the Yavoriv district, who were removing wheels and other parts from the car. One malefactor was detained, two managed to escape.

Officers from the Yavoriv District Police Department immediately went to the scene. According to the measures taken, the police found that three residents of the district, aged 21, 22 and 28, were involved in the theft of parts from a Volkswagen Jet car parked near the gas station.

Soon all three were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainees about the suspicion of committing an offense under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect faces imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Militiamen once again remind that in the beginning of March the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine made changes and additions to Article 185 (Theft), Article 186 (Robbery), Article 188 (Robbery), Article 189 (Extortion), Article 191 (Appropriation, misappropriation of property or causing it by abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, according to which these acts in a state of war or emergency will be qualified under Part 4 and will provide maximum penalties. The responsibility for looting has also been increased – for committing this crime in wartime, there is a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
