Police detain Audi driver involved in fatal road accident in Lviv region

As a result of a three-car collision, one of the drivers was killed and two others were injured. The detainee faces up to eight years’ imprisonment for his actions.

The road accident occurred on 1 November at 17.10 in the village of Remeniv, Lviv district.

As law enforcement officers have previously established, the driver of an Audi A4, a 22-year-old resident of a village in Lviv district, was performing an overtaking manoeuvre and collided with a Seat Leon moving in the opposite direction driven by a 25-year-old resident of Skole and a Chevrolet Lacetti driven by a 45-year-old resident of Dobrotvir.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Seat died at the scene of the accident, while the drivers of the Audi and Chevrolet were injured.

The driver of the Audi was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigation Department opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
