It was established that the monthly income of the members of the criminal group amounted to about half a million hryvnias.
The perpetrators were exposed by operatives of the Department of Combating Narcotic Crime and the Department of Criminal Analysis of the Lviv Oblast Police, together with employees of the Yavoriv District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office. The detentions were carried out with the force support of soldiers of the special purpose police battalion of the Lviv region police.
The criminal group included five people – all residents of the Yavoriv district: one – 34 years old, two – 29 years old, and two 25-year-olds. As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrators organized channels for the supply of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to the territory of Yavoriv district, their storage and sale, as well as places for use.
The policemen documented the facts of the sale and sale of prohibited substances, and during the authorized searches they discovered and seized from the perpetrators: a substance of plant origin, outwardly similar to the particularly dangerous narcotic drug “cannabis” in rolls, packages and other containers, a roll with a white substance, from the outside similar to the psychotropic substance “amphetamine”, rolls and packages with hemp seeds, electronic scales, means for packaging, devices for the use of prohibited substances, rough accounting and other tangible evidence of their involvement in illegal activities.
Everything seized was sent to the Lviv Research Expert Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for expert research.
Two of the members of the criminal group were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings opened under Part 2, Part 3 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing.
The maximum penalty for perpetrators is imprisonment for a term of up to twelve years with confiscation of property.
The issue of selection of preventive measures for the members of the criminal group is also being resolved.
