Operatives of the Lviv border detachment exposed the perpetrators who organized a scheme for the illegal departure of conscript men abroad.
As the law enforcement officers established, in July 2022, a resident of Volyn created a fictitious enterprise on the territory of Ukraine for international freight transportation. The attacker concluded “fake” employment contracts, and subsequently information about pseudo-drivers was entered into the “Shlyah” system. The clients of the “businessman” were Ukrainians of military age and those subject to general mobilization. To perform the “transfer service”, the man engaged four accomplices, who took conscripts abroad for personal purposes. Their services were valued at $1,000, depending on the length of stay abroad. A one-way ticket cost the dodgers $4,500.
In the course of authorized searches, three cars used for the illegal transportation of men abroad, mobile phones, computer equipment, document forms, seals and other items confirming involvement in illegal activities were discovered and seized. As well as cash in the amount of 6,400 USD and 7,800 EUR, which the attackers probably received for their “services”.
Police investigators informed the detainees that they were suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years with confiscation of property. Soon, the investigation materials will be sent to the court.
Actions to stop illegal activities were carried out by operatives of the Lviv and Volyn border detachments together with the employees of the GUNP in the Lviv region under the procedural guidance of the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office and the support of the Department of Criminal Analysis of the GUNP in the Lviv region.
