In Lviv Oblast, the SBU blocked a scheme to demand payment from IDPs for free housing

The criminals planned to get rich at the expense of people who lost their homes due to the war started by Russia.

In the Lviv region, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and blocked an illegal scheme of demanding payment from internally displaced persons for free housing.

The operatives established that the business for the displaced persons was organized by the officials of the structural division of one of the state-owned enterprises of the region. Namely, the management of the health and treatment complex, which is part of the structure of the state enterprise.

The sanatorium was supposed to accept forced migrants for free temporary accommodation, but the institution’s management decided to “make money” on it. Acting chief accountant demanded money from such persons for, allegedly, not creating artificial obstacles during settlement.

Later, in order to cover up her criminal activities, the perpetrator created and issued falsified receipts for housing payments to people who were victims of military aggression.

The person involved in the proceedings has already been notified of the suspicion of committing a crime, provided for in Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of undue benefit by an official) and Part 1 of Art. 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Materials for choosing a preventive measure are being prepared.

Investigative actions are ongoing to determine the amount of damage caused and bring to justice all involved persons.

The investigative measures were carried out by operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region together with the investigators of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office.
