Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was submitted to the court against the former head of the village council and the director of a construction company. They are charged with misappropriation of budgetary funds and forgery of official documents (Article 28(2), Article 366(1), Article 191(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the head of the village council initiated a tender for the construction of a medium-pressure gas supply pipeline in the settlements of Chervonohrad district. However, there was no need for the above-mentioned works, as they had been completed several years ago.
Following the tender, a contract was signed with a construction company in 2019. Subsequently, without carrying out any work at the facility, the contractor entered false information into the relevant acts. In turn, the chairman of the village council approved and signed the illegal documents.
As a result, the business entity was unjustifiably transferred almost UAH 2.5 million from the local budget.
At the request of the prosecutor, the gas pipeline was seized and transferred to the management of the ARMA.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Chervonohrad District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region with operational support from the Chervonohrad District Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
