Law enforcement in the Lviv region has completed investigations into three cases of illegal tree logging in the Stryi district. Accusatory acts against three local residents have been submitted to the court. The total damages to the environment exceed 500,000 UAH.
First Case
In the Skole Beskids National Nature Park, a 61-year-old man illegally cut down 41 hornbeams and 2 spruces without proper documentation, causing damages of nearly 334,000 UAH.
Second Case
A 45-year-old resident of a local village felled 14 spruces on the territory of a State Forestry Enterprise, resulting in damages of over 147,000 UAH.
Third Case
A 73-year-old man from Stryi district illegally cut down fir trees, causing damages exceeding 40,000 UAH.
Investigation and Penalties
The cases were opened under Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 4 (illegal large-scale logging) – punishable by up to 7 years in prison.
- Part 1 (less significant damage) – punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
Investigators from Police Division #3 of the Stryi District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, have completed the pretrial investigations.
