The residents of Yavoriv district, both aged 25, were exposed by operatives of the Drug Crime Department and the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police jointly with investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office.
The detentions were carried out with the force support of the Special Police Battalion of the Lviv Police.
According to law enforcement officers, the offenders organized a channel for the supply of drugs and psychotropic substances to the territory of Yavoriv district, their storage and sale, as well as places for consumption.
The police documented the facts of sale and distribution of prohibited substances, and during authorized searches found and seized from the accused a substance of plant origin, externally similar to the narcotic drug “cannabis” in rolls, packages and other containers, a roll with a white substance, externally similar to the psychotropic substance “amphetamine”, rolls and packages with hemp seeds, electronic scales, packaging equipment, devices for the use of prohibited substances, draft accounting and other material evidence of their involvement in illegal activities. All seized items were sent for expert examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
It was also established that the monthly profit of drug traffickers amounted to about UAH 100 thousand.
The offenders were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 306 (Use of funds obtained from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, precursors, poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent medicines) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, Part 2 Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 2 of Article 317 (Organization or maintenance of places for illegal use, production or manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is completed. The indictment has been sent to court.
The maximum penalty facing the criminals is imprisonment for up to fifteen years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.
