Perpetrator in Lviv region accused of murder of acquaintance over jealousy
It was established that during a conflict fueled by jealousy, the perpetrator brutally beat a friend, causing fatal injuries. The accused faces a penalty of up to fifteen years of imprisonment for the crime.
Details of the crime
On December 14, 2024, at around 2 a.m., the police received a report that the body of a man with signs of violent death was found in an apartment of a building on Hrinchenko Street in Drohobych.
Operatives, investigators, and officers of other services of the Drohobych District Police Department and Lviv Regional Police were involved in solving the crime and searching for the perpetrator.
As law enforcement officers established, that day two acquaintances, previously convicted, a 34-year-old resident of Truskavets and a 29-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia region, were visiting. During the consumption of alcoholic beverages, a conflict arose between them, during which the younger one brutally beat the older one, delivering numerous punches and kicks to the head, which led to his death.
The police detained the perpetrator under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Investigation and trial
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings opened under part 1 of Article 115 (Intentional Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of seven to fifteen years of imprisonment.
