An offender accused of attempted murder of a fellow villager will be tried in Lviv region

The attacker, who repeatedly stabbed the victim in the neck and chest during a domestic conflict, faces imprisonment for up to fifteen years.

The offender was exposed and detained by investigators, criminal police operatives and other officers of the Yavoriv District Police Department.

As law enforcement officers established during the pre-trial investigation, on 7 August, a 44-year-old resident of a village in Yavoriv district was visiting his 38-year-old friend, a fellow villager. The men were drinking alcohol and around four in the morning a conflict arose between them, during which the host, intending to kill the guest, stabbed him several times in the neck and chest.

Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the wounded man with, among other things, a penetrating wound to the abdominal cavity with damage to the lung, diaphragm, liver and penetrating wound to the heart. Fortunately, thanks to the doctors, the patient survived.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Article 15, Part 1 Article 115 (Attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.

The accused faces imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
