Lviv region: SBU exposes organised group producing counterfeit alcohol
Detectives of the SBU Department in Lviv region exposed an organised group that illegally produced and sold alcoholic beverages of well-known brands. The group consisted of 5 people. The suspects worked without a licence and without state registration of the business entity.
The investigation established that between August and October 2023, the group members illegally manufactured and stored counterfeit goods in garage premises in Lviv region. The counterfeit alcoholic beverages were labelled with fake excise tax stamps and the finished products were sold in Lviv region.
The detectives conducted searches, seized and arrested equipment for the illegal production of alcoholic beverages, more than 3 thousand litres of finished products, alcohol, counterfeit excise stamps, etc. The estimated value of the counterfeit is over half a million hryvnias.
Currently, five people have been served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 204, Part 1 of Article 204, Part 1 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Operational support was provided by the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Secret Service of National Police. Procedural supervision was provided by prosecutors of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
