Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a smuggling channel was blocked.
According to the investigation, a group of people transported goods across the border concealed from customs control in small trucks without declaring them.
The warehouse for the temporary storage of contraband was located in the border district of Lviv region.
Subsequently, it was transported by large trucks for sale to end consumers.
As a result of searches in the warehouses and vehicles used to transport the contraband, the law enforcement found and seized food, household goods, electric bicycles with elements and parts for them.
The estimated value of the goods is over UAH 14 million.
In addition, 2 trucks and 4 trailers were seized and arrested by court order.
The pre-trial investigation into the smuggling of goods is being carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Lviv region (Part 2 of Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict.
