Import of new goods worth over UAH 11 million under the guise of humanitarian aid exposed in Lviv region

The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, together with the regional law enforcement agencies, is continuing measures to detect illegal treatment of humanitarian aid committed under martial law.

Thus, in the framework of criminal proceedings on the fact of forgery of documents (Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), a truck with a semi-trailer was found transporting new shoes and clothes from abroad under the guise of humanitarian aid.

During searches in the truck and semi-trailer, 144 bags of clothes and the same number of bags of shoes were found and seized. In particular, more than 3,500 pairs of new men’s, women’s and children’s shoes of various brands, including well-known brands, were found.

According to preliminary data, the total weight of the seized goods is more than 7.6 tons of goods, worth more than 11 million UAH, while, in official documents, both the weight and type of cargo indicated others.

Investigative actions are underway, the truck and the semi-trailer have been confiscated, the issue of arresting them is being resolved, and the persons involved in the criminal offense are being identified.

The operation to expose was carried out by prosecutors together with employees of the State National Park in Lviv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proved in a lawful manner and established by a court conviction.
