A conflict between brothers in Lviv region ended in a stabbing
In Lviv region, police arrested a perpetrator who wounded his brother with a knife. It was established that a conflict arose between the relatives while they were consuming alcoholic beverages. The suspect faces a punishment of up to eight years of imprisonment for his actions. The wounded man is in the hospital.
Incident details
On March 6, around 19:30, the police received a report that a man was injured in a house in one of the villages of the Stryi district. Operational officers of the criminal police, investigators, and employees of other subdivisions of the Stryi district police department immediately went to the scene.
The police found that on that day a conflict arose between the 42-year-old homeowner and his 40-year-old brother, who was visiting him, during which the younger brother wounded the older brother in the abdomen with a knife, causing serious bodily harm. The victim was hospitalized.
Legal consequences
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of five to eight years of imprisonment. Pre-trial investigation continues.
