The detainee, a 46-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Stryi district, damaged a law enforcement officer’s car by stabbing it several times with a large knife.
Today, April 15, around 12:30 p.m., a resident of one of the villages of the Stryi district called for help on the 102 hotline.
According to the applicant, his neighbor, leaving her yard in a Peugeot car, had an accident (collided with a neighbor’s fence), after which she drove off in an unknown direction. Fortunately, there were no casualties as a result of the accident.
Employees of the Stryi district police department were involved in the search for Peugeot, and soon the crew of the response department of the patrol police found it on one of the streets of the village.
Seeing the law enforcement officers, the intruder started to run away to her house. She did not respond to the lawful demands of the police, instead she pointed her fighting dog at the law enforcement officers, threatened physical violence, and hit the official car with a machete several times.
Using special means, the police detained the perpetrator in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
A medical certificate was conducted, which confirmed that the detainee was intoxicated.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
In addition, the perpetrator will be held administratively liable for: driving a vehicle while intoxicated, committing a road accident, leaving the scene of an accident, driving a vehicle without relevant documents and petty hooliganism.
