Sale of humanitarian aid from Finland – acting mayor detained in Lviv region mayor
Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the acting the mayor of one of the cities of Lviv region for the sale of humanitarian aid and receiving illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 201-2, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the official demanded and received UAH 100,000 in illegal benefits from a volunteer for the transfer of a bus received by the city council free of charge from one of Finland’s associations as humanitarian aid.
He was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine after receiving the full amount of illegal benefit.
Urgent urgent investigative actions are underway. Issues related to notifying the detainee of suspicion, choosing a measure of restraint and removing him from office are being resolved.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in the city of Lviv.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proved in law and established by a court conviction.
