In the Lviv region, operational officers of the 7th Border Detachment intercepted an attempt to smuggle equipment for cigarette production through the “Rava-Ruska” checkpoint.
The dismantled cigarette production line was being imported into Ukraine from Poland using a “VOLVO” truck. The shipping documents stated that the cargo consisted of packaging equipment, without specifying its intended use.
During a thorough inspection, law enforcement discovered machinery for packaging tobacco products into paper packs and equipment for producing the packs themselves. It was determined that the cargo was intended to be delivered to a private company in the Odesa region.
Currently, the equipment has been seized, and a series of judicial examinations have been appointed to clarify all the circumstances of the case.
The pre-trial investigation, under Part 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is being conducted by detectives from the Territorial Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) in the Lviv region under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
