By abusing his official position, the perpetrator entered known false information into the official documents and used forged documents, as a result of which he seized a particularly large amount of budget funds.
As the investigators of the Drohobytsky district police department established, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobytskyi district prosecutor’s office, the director of a private enterprise, a 40-year-old Lviv resident, embezzled 8,433,878.27 hryvnias during the construction of a bridge across the river in one of the villages of the Drohobytskyi district, deliberately entering inaccurate data to the acts of completed works.
Having collected enough evidence of illegal activity, the investigators informed the perpetrator of the suspicion of criminal offenses provided for in part 5 of article 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) and part 1 of article 366 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine . The maximum punishment the suspect faces is imprisonment for a term of up to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years and with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
