Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was filed against a 59-year-old resident of the district on the facts of illegal purchase and storage of illegally manufactured excisable goods with intent to sell (Part 1 Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the accused, being an individual entrepreneur, intended to sell illegally manufactured excisable goods in his shop. These were cigarettes without excise stamps and counterfeit alcoholic beverages.
The man did not have a permit or licence to sell excisable goods as required by law.
During searches in the store and in the house of the accused’s parents, law enforcement officers found the above-mentioned counterfeit goods. In particular, almost 50 litres of alcohol and more than 100 thousand packs of cigarettes. The value of the seized goods is over UAH 6 million.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the BES detectives in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
