Under the procedural guidance of the Sambir district prosecutor’s office, an indictment was sent to the court against a 37-year-old man who had been previously tried for domestic violence and intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm (Article 126-1, Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation established that a local resident lived with his 88-year-old grandmother in one of the villages of the Sambir region. The man did not have a permanent job and often abused alcohol and systematically had unreasonable quarrels and insulted the woman.
Being in a state of alcohol intoxication, the accused repeatedly spoke obscene words to the victim, humiliated and intimidated her with physical violence. Arbitrarily took money from her pension for alcohol. As a result, the elderly woman feared for the safety of her life.
In addition, in January of this year, the person involved, after drinking alcohol again, came home and again committed a conflict, at the same time began to kick the victim’s body. As a result – in the last leg fracture and long-term health disorder.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Sambir district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
