Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, an official of one of the customs posts of the Galician Customs was notified of suspicion of official negligence, which caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the state inspector of the customs clearance department of one of the customs posts of the Galician Customs Service of the State Customs Service acted in a scheme with other customs officials to assist enterprises in tax evasion. The official unreasonably let into the territory of Ukraine, without paying the mandatory customs payments, 2 cargo vehicles belonging to the company related to the person against whom personal sanctions were applied by the decision of the National Security Council.
Thus, during customs clearance, the official did not inspect the vehicle and did not control the contents of the cargo compartment, where branded clothes, cosmetics and perfumes were located. After that, he issued a document that confirmed false information about the absence of cargo and granted the right to leave the customs control zone without paying customs fees.
As a result of the evasion of mandatory customs payments, the state suffered losses in the amount of more than 4.3 million hryvnias.
Investigative actions are ongoing, the issue of selecting a preventive measure is being resolved and the involvement of other persons in the commission of this crime is being established.
The prosecutor’s office carried out the denunciation operation together with the investigators of the Territorial Department of the Security Intelligence Service, located in Lviv, and employees of the Internal Security Department of the Lviv Customs, based on the materials of GU “D” of the DZND of the SBU.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
