Under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the acting head of one of the departments and two inspectors of the customs post “Krakivets” of the Lviv Customs Office, as well as a resident of Lviv Oblast, were exposed and informed about the suspicion of receiving an illegal benefit (part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the officials, together with a local resident, set up a scheme to receive bribes.
The men established a so-called “tax” and received illegal benefits from citizens who imported consumer goods into the territory of Ukraine. For this money, the suspects promised not to create artificial obstacles when crossing the border.
Officials brought bribes to their accomplice, a civilian who does not work at the customs office. The latter was always near his accomplices and was in charge of the entire so-called “cash register”.
Repeated receipt of illegal benefits by the participants was documented.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect in the form of detention, as well as the removal of employees from their positions, is being resolved.
Investigations in criminal proceedings are carried out by the investigators of the territorial department of the SBI in the city of Lviv.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
