The traffic accident happened on January 16 at around 19:00 on the Ternopil-Lviv highway in the village of Velyka Vilshanytsia, Zolochiv district.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Peugeot car, a 31-year-old resident of the city of Glynyany, hit a pedestrian, a resident of one of the villages of the district, his age, who was crossing the road outside the pedestrian crossing. The man died from his injuries at the scene.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.
An investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
