The road accident occurred on 27 November at 19.45 in Rudky, Sambir district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Seat Toledo, a 25-year-old resident of the district, hit a pedestrian, a 69-year-old resident of Rudky, who was walking on the roadway. As a result of the accident, the man was injured and taken to hospital.
It was also established that the driver was driving the vehicle while intoxicated.
Investigators of the Sambir District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
