The road accident happened on 20 October after midnight in the village of Dubliany, Sambir district.
As law enforcement officers have previously established, the driver of a VAZ-2110, a 22-year-old resident of the district, lost control of the car – the car drove off the roadway and collided with a tree. As a result of the accident, a 15-year-old passenger of the car, a fellow villager, sustained injuries. She was taken to hospital.
In addition, it was established that the driver of the VAZ was driving the vehicle while intoxicated.
Investigators of the Sambir District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
The driver of the car was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
